Northfield Dog Training

Length: 60 minutes per week

Prerequisites: A basic obedience class

This class will focus on getting your dog started on the training needed for retriever field work, including basic retrieving, controlled walking, recalls, and sit stays. Though it will be an entry-level class for handlers with little to no retriever training, more experienced handlers are welcome. We will also discuss test mechanics. I hope to be doing some work with dead ducks by the end of the course. If you don’t already own field training equipment, such as a whistle on a lanyard and a few 2" white plastic bumpers, expect to be doing some shopping before the class starts.

If your dog's recall is not solid off leash, please bring a long line that is at least 30 feet long. 

The class will be held in the fenced training yard near the front of the property unless it is storming, in which case class will be held in the obedience end of the big building.Plan to park on the grass at the north side (non-road side) of the fenced yard. If you'd like a chair, please bring one.
